Testimonials…
“Your furniture is in good hands with Nook and Cranny. From beginning to end, Travis and Hillary have been consummate professionals. And, they are such nice, personable people! They first worked on my grandmother's midcentury dining table and chairs. Let me just say that the table and chairs had seen better days. Travis came to my house and took tons of notes about what needed to be done. I was totally blown away with how conscientious he was in making note of all repairs to be done. The caning on the back of the dining chairs was really in need of repair. Travis made no promises that he could find the same small caning weave, but he came through in flying colors! Travis went above and beyond on this project for me -- he even coordinated the reupholstering of the dining seats. He picked up the seats and the fabric I had selected, delivered them to the upholsterer, and then brought them back and reattached them to the chairs! I cannot describe to you how thrilled I am in their beautiful work!
Travis and Hillary also restored a brass bar cart that had belonged to my grandmother. The poor thing was sooooo tarnished and shaky! It needed new screws and some structural work. The finished product looks so good and gleams more than I even remember it when my grandmother used it!
My grandmother would be proud to know that her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will be sitting around her dining table once again for Thanksgiving! Thank you Travis and Hillary!”

“Travis is a true professional. His attention to detail is amazing and he is passionate about his work and pleasing the customer. I will recommend him (Nook and Cranny) to all of my friends and businesses that can use his expertise. I had a complicated project and he was able to identify the challenge and work his magic. Travis didn't just meet my expectations with his work, he exceeded them! Thank you, Travis you made my day!”

“I needed a knowledgeable craftsman to repair the legs of my grandfather’s antique China cabinet. Finding Travis felt like divine intervention. He taught me some history of the piece and had a true appreciation for it. Most of all, he repaired it perfectly with the utmost care. Travis is a true professional and an extremely nice man. I give him my highest recommendation!”

“Travis is an inspired steward of artisanal craftsmanship and cultural/historical traditions. He restored my Baker Furniture Louis XV library table to its original grandeur with virtuosity, verve, and sublime passion. His intrepid wife and creative partner, Hillary, manages the business seamlessly and in a spirit of excellence. And, remarkably, Travis makes “house calls” and does the refinishing work on-site which streamlines the process and eliminates transportation costs. Thank you Travis and Hillary!”

“Travis not only did a fantastic job of refinishing my grandfather’s 150 year old primitive desk, but provided much unknown history about probable age and origin. He exceeded mine and my wife's expectations and has enhanced a treasured heirloom which will be valued by our family and handed down from future generation to generation. His work and attention to detail was superior. I thought that the cost was rather high, however, the finished product was worth every penny and perhaps more. My wife and I would highly recommend Nook & Cranny to anyone seeking to have fine furniture or a valued heirloom refinished or restored. I am sure you will be completely satisfied and glad you chose Nook & Cranny for their services.”

“Perfection, Excellence, and Class are just a few of the words that describe the quality of work done by The Nook and Cranny Company. With just a quick look at their elegant website you can see for yourself the attention to detail, supreme quality, and pride of work this company puts forth. I called Nook and Cranny and talked to Travis about restoring some very delicate antique furniture I had. He gave me a very reasonable price and assured me he could make the repair, and that it would be unnoticeable. I decided to go with them, and I am glad I did because Travis is beyond masterful at his craft. He is a perfectionist with his work and will not settle for anything less. He went above and beyond my expectations, answered all questions, and even lent his ear and advice as I talked out my life’s predicaments. If you are looking to get something repaired, refinished, or basically just about any job done. Stop looking. You have found the best!”

“This restoration project was a total success! Travis listens to what his customer wants. He gives the customer a clear explanation of the process and steps the project will entail. He provides a specific (and fair) price. Most importantly, he is professional and honest in his dealings with the customer. The company's attention to detail is something I also appreciate. They use high quality materials (stains, finishes, wood, etc.) in their work. Nook and Cranny Co. took the time to understand how much an old family heirloom piece (dining room table and 6 chairs) meant to my wife and me, and they handled the entire transaction accordingly. I recommend Nook and Cranny Co. without reservation, and I will call on them again when I need furniture refinishing, painting, or restoration. It's a great company, staffed by great people! Thanks, Travis and Hillary, for a job well done.”

“Thanks to Travis, our four 80-year old dining chairs no longer creak, wobble, and threaten to collapse under unsuspecting diners. He answered my inquiry immediately, gave a very reasonable estimate for repairs, was most conveniently available, and arrived exactly when he promised to carry out the work in our home. He’s a meticulous craftsman, and, as a bonus, a most entertaining storyteller. He worked knowledgeably and carefully to make sure these pieces were returned to sound condition. I highly recommend this caring, reliable and gifted small business that we’re so lucky to have as part of our Upstate community. Thank you, Travis!”

“We had a vintage National Geographic bird feeder that was irreplaceable and therefore priceless. It's made with exotic woods and beautiful detail, but the years of weather had taken its toll. Nook and Cranny performed a TOTAL restoration by taking it apart, replacing hardware, repairing/replacing construction, and even improving the seed hopper to feed more efficiently. Then, after the integrity of structure was made BETTER than new, all the woodwork was made more beautiful than the original finish. After painstakingly removing all signs of age, the natural beauty of these woods were brought out with expert use of stains and sealers. The result was a work of art. Nook and Cranny is the best. I highly recommend them for your finest or most prized pieces.”

Preserving the Past
“Count its stones as you would jewels of a crown; set watches about it as if at the gates of a besieged city; bind it together with iron where it loosens; stay it with timber where it declines; do not care about the unsightliness of the aid: better a crutch than a lost limb; and do this tenderly, and reverently, and continually, and many a generation will still be born and pass away beneath its shadow.”
— John Ruskin, historic preservationist
